HypnoBirthing

Firstly what is hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing is a method of pain management that can be used during labour and birth. It involves using a mixture of visualisation, relaxation and deep breathing techniques. Hypnobirthing promotes deep relaxation to dissociate from pain. It’s essentially pregnancy meditation, with a focus on mind over matter—for example, seeing contractions, which are referred to as “surges and waves,” as a way to get closer to birthing a baby rather than an experience of suffering. It’s a way to change your mindset and learn that your body isn’t feeling pain and suffering but is creating the miracle of birth.

Why should you take KGHypnobirthing classes?

Taking hypnobirthing classes and knowing what to expect during labour may help reduce fear and anxiety about giving birth. For some, that knowledge may be all that’s needed to feel calmer and more relaxed. Personally feeling prepared and knowing all the possible options and eventualities throughout my pregnancy and labour definitely aided in having a more positive birth, even if it didn’t go according to my plan.

When should you start hypnobirthing?

Ideally between 28-32 weeks although you can begin your hypnobirthing classes anytime following your 20-week scan and many women start between 28-32 weeks, so they have plenty of time to get into a great mindset and practice the techniques.
